You might have seen what we’ve gotten up to in Durban at the UN climate talks last year. You probably know about the Rio+20 meeting that’s coming up in June. You would be right in wondering what The Verb plans on doing in Brazil!
Unlike Durban, for Rio+20 The Verb won’t have a formal delegation but, we will certainly still have a presence. Things that will stay the same include: access to the negotiations and civil society actions in addition to writing multiple articles everyday for The Verb itself and our syndication partners. The differences are subtle and mainly internal, as a potential contributor – you won’t even notice. In Rio, we will operate more like a newswire service than ever before as an agile network of contributors.
We’ll be there covering a lot of the side events from the World Youth Congress to ICLEI’s World Congress and the World Green Summit. We’ll also be officially covering the:
UNCSD 3rd PrepComm (13-15 June)
UNCSD Dialogues with Civil Society (16-19 June) and, of course,
Rio+20 (20-22 June)
Brazil isn’t a cheap country and factoring in flights, we estimate that spending a little under three weeks in Rio might cost you approximately $3500. The experience will be worth it though!
Here’s the application, so apply if you’re interested! We’re accepting team members on a rolling basis, so the sooner you apply the better.
And if you have questions, email us.
